National Living Wage

Over 21 years we have seen so many changes including the professionalisation of our sector which we are very proud of. We know we make a difference in the lives of the children and families we care for and we could not do that without the dedicated staff that we have.

In recognition of this professionalism MACS have restructured our salaries to bring them in line with the UK accredited living wage beginning in April 2016. We believe the voluntary higher rate recognises the professional qualities we feel exists in out of school care. We also recognise that each of our staff, whether older or younger than 25 contributes to the same wellbeing, learning and care that is essential for us to be a quality childcare service.

We have increased most wages so that anyone who now holds a qualification (regardless of age) will be paid at the minimum the UK accredited living wage of £8.25 per hour. The unqualified rate has also been raised to £7.40 but we want all our staff to hold a qualification.

We are also committed to helping staff realise careers in childcare and will offer training to those staff currently without a qualification as well as to those who show potential for promoted posts including practitioners and senior staff.

Bluebell PND Charity

We have raised an amazing £14,659 at this point for a counselling service for one half day per week. The money you have donated will pay for 2 counsellors and a specialist crèche.

Two churches so far have come forward to offer free accommodation in East Renfrewshire. We look forward to starting this exciting project in the near future. We will have some further activities in the projects in May as a memorial activity.

Our senior staff took part in a post-natal depression awareness training, as often due to the stigma attached in society many people do not see the support that they need. With support, those that are experiencing the worst affects from post-natal depression can move forward with hope. As a company we will be considering how we can help reduce the stigma attached to post-natal depression. Our trained senior staff can now signpost anyone who is experiencing the effects of PND to the right support.

Thank you so much for everything you have done so far

Penny, Mary and Elaine on behalf of all at MACS.
