SCHOOLS SERVED

KIRKHILL PRIMARY SCHOOL

At Macs Kirkhill we have spaces for up to 88 children at both Breakfast Club (serving children attending Kirkhill Primary School only) and 88 children at our After School Care.

We operate from 7.45am for breakfast club where we offer a variety of choices to eat including cereal, bagels, toast, muffins and yoghurt with fresh fruit juice, milk or water to drink. At breakfast club we offer the children a selection of games, we also have fun arts and crafts on every morning for the children to take part in and they can also get involved in some physical team games in the gym hall. Some of our older children have set up a Wake Up Wednesday and Funky Fitness Friday to get all the children motivated for the day ahead.

After school care operates from school closure to 6pm. At our after - school club the children take part and plan for the activities/ crafts they enjoy. Each age group has their own planner for the month which the children are involved in planning. We also offer cook school for P5 +, where the children take part in our Pop - Up restaurant which involves the children making a 3 course menu and practicing their cooking skills to show to their parents.

We also offer various workshops, some of which are led by the children themselves, e.g. football, book club and Wake Up Wednesday. Some other workshops we do with the children include, Road Safety, Internet Safety, Anti - Bullying and many more. Staff have also undertaken Forest Kindergarten training, where the children take part in outdoor learning such as building dens, putting up hammocks and using natural resources to make things. We also have a choir where the children involved go to the local nursery and care home to sing songs for St Andrew's Day/ Christmas and Burns Day. The older children also visit the local care home to play board games with the residents.
