ST JOHNS' PRIMARY SCHOOL

At Macs Neilston we have spaces for up to 40 children at both Breakfast Club and After-School Care.  We usually use the gym hall/dining hall to play after school but we also play outside a lot!

Breakfast Club operates from 7.45am - 9am. Children can choose from a variety of healthy items to eat including cereal, toast, bagels yogurts, fresh fruit, milk and water.  We also have activities available for children to take part in before school begins.

Children from St Thomas' Primary are welcome to attend our Breakfast Club and are escorted from MACS Neilston to their school at 8.45am.

After-school operates from school closure to 6pm. Any children who attend St Thomas' Primary will be collected from the school and walked over to MACS Neilston by our staff. When the school has clubs in operation and the dining hall is in use then we use 2 classrooms where we still do lots of activities. We take board games, construction toys, colouring in, music and the laptop so it's still good fun!

We go back to the dining hall at 4.30pm when the clubs finish. There are lots of fun activities for children to take part in:

We enjoy local walks around our community.

There is a Children's Committee who provide ideas and suggestions to help with activity planning, snack menus and any new toys to purchase.

We complete MACS Challenge badges,   Challenges include Risky Play, International Play, Friendship helpers and Road Safety.

We have access to our local Library which the children go to on a Tuesday and Wednesday every week.

Children also have the opportunity to use the local swimming pool (children must be 8 years old or over and must be able to swim 2 lengths unaided) every Thursday.

We also enjoy visits from local services, the First Responders came to demonstrate First Aid and the Cycle Man from the Bank Cafe also gave a bike maintenance demonstration to the children.

Fundraising activities regularly take place at MACS Neilston.  Recent charities we have raised funds for include Children In Need and Brightest Star and currently we are raising funds for First Responders.  Older children are also going to visit local sheltered housing over the coming weeks to meet the residents and provide some entertainment for them.  We are also holding a reverse advent to collect food and toiletries for the elderly.

At MACS Neilston we also have access to the I-zone room where we can cook pizza, bake and also do loads of challenges there too for example "I'm A MACS Kid get me out of here!" food challenge, and MACS bake off.
